Description

This interesting ecological tale is about the very ugly but lovable creatures who now overpopulate the Australian suburbs - bringing great delight to some, but serious problems to scientists and government officials. About 50 years ago, when beetles were causing terrible damage to the sugarcane crops in Australia, someone had a wonderful idea: toads eat beetles, so let's bring a load of toads to Australia and, the problem will be fixed! People didn't know too much about ecology back then, so everyone agreed to import a case of 100 or so toads and set them loose in the sugarcane fields.
